Dispatch SMR-005. Subject: IKENO. From: Hadamard.
We report from Ikeno, a crewed station six astronomical units from the magnetar Chron, on a programme to observe vacuum birefringence directly. At this distance the star shows no disc. It is a point source, and every observation of it arrives fifty minutes late. Two people, Enoka and Sethi, keep the station and ask the star a question by letting it break what they send, and reiterating based on the results. These are their records.
